ABOUT THIS OPERATION
How a fever dream became a publication.
"Somewhere in the Everglades, a story was waiting to be told. Several stories, actually. Most of them involved alligators."
IT STARTED WITH A HEADLINE
It was a Tuesday. A man in Ocala had been arrested for attempting to pay his electric bill entirely in loose change delivered via catapult. The headline wrote itself. The comic panel practically drew itself.
A Florida Man was born in a Waffle House booth somewhere between Gainesville and existential dread. Two people, one notebook, and a shared conviction that the Sunshine State deserved its own graphic novel — not a satirical one, but a documentary one. Because the truth is already funnier.
Every story we publish is real. Every headline is sourced. Every panel is drawn from actual police reports, local news archives, and the occasional eyewitness who was also, somehow, involved.
THE MISSION
To chronicle the unhinged, the absurd, and the gloriously chaotic — one panel at a time. Florida Man is not a cautionary tale. He is a folk hero. We are his biographers.
100% Real Headlines
Every story is sourced from actual news reports. We couldn't make this up if we tried.
Florida First
We cover the Sunshine State exclusively. There's enough material. Trust us.
Ink & Attitude
Hand-lettered, panel-by-panel storytelling. No algorithms. No AI. Just ink and poor decisions.
Reader Tips Welcome
Our best stories come from locals. If you saw something, say something. Anonymity guaranteed.
THE CREW
Rex Palmetto

Former crime reporter for the Ocala Gazette. Has personally interviewed three alligators. None cooperated.
FUN FACT: Once ate a gas station sushi roll on a dare. Survived.
Darlene Swampwater
Lead Artist & Panel Designer
Self-taught comic artist who grew up in the Everglades. Her first drawing was of a manatee eating a lawn chair.
FUN FACT: Draws exclusively in humidity. Claims it improves line quality.
Biscuit McGee
Research & Fact Verification
Former paralegal. Current Florida Man enthusiast. Has read every police report filed in Broward County since 2008.
FUN FACT: Named after a gas station biscuit. The story is not flattering.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
Q: Are these stories real?
A: Yes. Every single one. We source from local news archives, police reports, and court records. Florida does not require embellishment.
Q: How often do you publish?
A: Whenever the swamp demands it. Roughly weekly, but Florida Man operates on his own schedule and so do we.
Q: Can I submit a tip?
A: Absolutely. Use the Submit a Tip page. All submissions are reviewed. Anonymity is guaranteed. Gators are optional.
Q: Do you cover stories outside Florida?
A: No. Florida is sufficient. Florida is more than sufficient. Florida is, frankly, a lot.
